Carmen Boullosa
Carmen Boullosa Carmen Boullosa was born in Mexico City in 1954.

She has published numerous novels, poems, and plays, which have been translated into six languages. She has received many literary awards, among them Mexico’s most prestigious literary honours, the Premio Xavier Villaurrutia, as well as the Frankfurt Literaturpreis.

Boullosa has been a Guggenheim Fellow and a fellow at the New York Public Library. She has taught at numerous universities in Latin America, Europe and the USA and is currently a Distinguished Lecturer at City College, New York. Along with Salman Ruhdie, Boullosa recently co-founded the Mexico City House for Persecuted Writers in Mexico City.

Her most recent work is a novel set in Cervantes’ times and based on his characters, La otra mano de Lepanto.
