The following awards are offered by PEN American Center for excellence in literary fiction:

The PEN/Saul Bellow Award for Achievement in American Fiction
The PEN/Saul Bellow Award ($25,000) is given to a distinguished living American author of fiction whose body of work in English possesses qualities of excellence, ambition, and scale of achievement over a sustained career. >> More

The PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize
The PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize ($25,000) will honor an exceptionally talented fiction writer whose debut work—a first novel or collection of short stories—represents distinguished literary achievement and suggests great promise. >> More

The PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction, Founded by Barbara Kingsolver
The PEN/Bellwether Prize ($25,000) will honor an author of a previously unpublished novel that addresses issues of social justice and the impact of culture and politics on human relationships. >> More

The PEN/W. G. Sebald Award for a Fiction Writer in Mid-Career
The PEN/W.G. Sebald Award for a Fiction Writer in Mid-Career ($10,000) honors an author who has published at least 3 significant works of literary fiction, either novels or short story collections, with the promise of more to come. >> More

The Phyllis Naylor Working Writer Fellowship
The PEN/Phyllis Naylor Working Writer Fellowship ($5,000) is offered annually to an author of children's or young-adult fiction. >> More

The PEN Open Book Award
The PEN/Open Book Award ($5,000) is given to an author of color who has published an exceptional work of literature. >> More

The PEN Emerging Writers Awards

The PEN Emerging Writers Awards ($2,500 each) are given to an up-and-coming fiction writer and nonfiction writer who show exceptional talent but who have yet to publish a book-length work. >> More
