2006 HANDBOOK FOR WRITERS IN PRISON
Free upon request to prisoners who want to further their education, The Handbook for Writers in Prison can also be ordered on behalf of a friend or loved one who is incarcerated. To date, PEN has distributed 20,000 copies of the handbook and continues to receive requests.

Words Over Walls: Starting a Writing Workshop in Prison is a handbook directed to those on the outside who are interested in beginning this work. It was written by Hettie Jones, former chair of the PEN Prison Writing Program, and Janine Pommy Vega, a member of the Prison Writing Committee; both have taught writing workshops in prisons for many years.

Puchase, edited this anthology. Published by Arcade Publishing in 1999
with excellent introductory material, Doing Time is well-suited for classroom use. |
