Andreï Makine was born in Russia and has lived in France since 1987.

His publications include the novel Dream of My Russian Summers, which won the Prix Goncourt and the Prix Médicis in 1995, as well as The Music of a Life and Requiem for a Lost Empire. His novel The Earth and Sky of Jacques Dorme was released in the United States this spring.
