Elena Poniatowska

Elena Poniatowska has written more than 50 books, including Dear Diego, Massacre in Mexico, Nothing, Nobody: The Voices of the Earthquake, The Skin of the Sky, which won the Alfaguara Prize in 2001, and Tinísima. 

 

Poniatowska has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and an Emeritus Fellowship from Mexico’s National Council of Culture and Arts. In 1979, she became the first woman to win the Mexican National Award for Journalism. Her work has been translated into English, French, Italian, German, Danish, and Dutch.
