Lawrence Weschler
Lawrence Weschler Lawrence Weschler was born in Van Nuys, California, on February 13, 1952.

Weschler was, for 20 years, a staff writer at The New Yorker, where his work shuttled between political tragedy and cultural comedy.

His dozen books include Mr. Wilson's Cabinet of Wonder; A Miracle, A Universe: Settling Accounts with Torturers; Calamities of Exile; and, most recently, Vermeer in Bosnia.

He currently directs the New York Institute for the Humanities at NYU.
