CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
2006 PEN LITERARY AWARDS
PEN American Center is pleased to announce a call for submissions to its annual literary awards. This year, the following awards are available:
The PEN/Nabokov Award
(By internal nomination only) The Nabokov Award celebrates the accomplishments of a living author whose body of work, either written in or translated into English, represents achievement in a variety of literary genres and is of enduring originality and consummate craftsmanship. More 
The PEN/Robert Bingham Fellowship for Writers
The Bingham Fellowship honors exceptionally talented fiction writers whose debut work represents distinguished literary achievement and suggests great promise. More 
The PEN/ Laura Pels Foundation Awards for Drama
These two awards honor a grand master of American theater and an outstanding new voice, both of whose literary achievements are vividly apparent in the rich and striking language of his or her works. More 
The PEN/ Book-of-the-Month Club Translation Prize
This translation award invites book-length translations from any language into English published during the current calendar year. More 
The PEN Award for Poetry in Translation
This award recognizes book-length translations of poetry from any language into English published during the current calendar year, and is judged by a poetry translator appointed by PEN's Translation Committee. More 
The PEN/Martha Albrand Award for First Nonfiction
(Open to submissions from publishers, authors, and agents) This award recognizes an American author's first-published book of general nonfiction, distinguished by qualities of literary and stylistic excellence. More 


The PEN/ Martha Albrand Award for the Art of the Memoir
In conjunction with the First Nonfiction Award, this award honors an American author for his or her first published memoir, distinguished by qualities of literary and stylistic excellence. More 
The PEN/Phyllis Naylor Working Writer Fellowship
This fellowship is offered annually to an author of children's or young-adult fiction. More 
The PEN/Ralph Manheim Medal for Translation
(By internal nomination only) The Manheim Medal is given every three years to a translator whose career has demonstrated a commitment to excellence through the body of his or her work. More 
The PEN/Voelker Award for Poetry
The Voelker Award honors an American poet whose distinguished and growing body of work to date represents a notable and accomplished presence in American literature. More 
PEN Translation Fund Grants
The Translation Fund provides grants to support the translation of book-length works of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, or drama that have not previously appeared in English or have appeared only in an egregiously flawed translation. More 
The PEN/Beyond Margins Awards
(Open to submissions from publishers and agents only) The Beyond Margins Awards honor book-length writings by authors of color, published in the United States during the current calendar year. More
