PEN American Center asks members and friends to consider offering your support to one of the the following organizations:
Alibris is working with the Texas Library Association on a book-donation program for libraries in Lousiana and Mississippi.
Americans for the Arts has established the Arts Emergency Relief Fund, a permanent fund developed to provide timely financial assistance to victims.
The American Booksellers Association has started a Bookseller Relief Fund to help meet the humanitarian
needs of booksellers affected.
The American Library Assocation
has posted status reports from libraries in the
affected areas and identified libraries' greatest
needs.
First Book will contribute books to children in homeless shelters in the coming months. Every five dollars given will be
matched with one book.
The International Reading Association is accepting donations in support of relief efforts focusing on the needs of kids and schools.
The Louisiana Library Association's Disaster Relief Fund is accepting money to assist school, public, and academic library restoration.
MoveOn.org has launched a site for those interested in offering shelter to displaced hurricane victims.
The New Orleans Literary Institute is accepting donations for KARES—Katrina Arts Relief and Emergency Support.
The Texas Library Association is collecting donations, which can be earmarked for libraries in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi.
