It seems the Moscow International Open Book Festival is too open for the Russian government.

According to the Moscow Times, the state forced the cancellation of a children’s puppet show at the festival over accusations that it “promotes homosexuality.”

PEN American Center called on the Russian government to “halt its sprawling censorship regime” upon learning of the play’s cancellation “over accusations it ‘promotes homosexuality,’ under the guise of the controversial gay ‘propaganda’ law.”
