Lydia Davis

Lydia Davis is the author of several story collections, including Collected Stories, and one novel.

Her story collection Break It Down was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award, and her collection, Varieties of Disturbance, was a finalist for the National Book Award. She was made a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters for her fiction. She is a translator of Proust, Blanchot, Foucault, Michel Leiris, and other French writers.

Davis received a MacArthur Fellowship in 2003 and the Man Booker International Prize in 2013. She teaches at the New York State Writers Institute in Albany. Her new collection, Can’t and Won’t, appears this April.
