Author name: Anne Garréta
Publication year: 2002
Original language: French

Winner of the prestitigious Prix Medici. The story is told by a single narrator, presumably the author, over a period of twelve nights. In this picaresque novel of desire, every night is devoted to a different woman. The novel as memory fragment and an effort to avoid losing the present as it fades into the past. The French text was well reviewed in the Boston Review shortly after the book's appearance.
