General History of Drugs
Author name: Antonio Escohotado
Publication year: 1998
Original language: Spanish

This 1500 page scholarly history of drugs dominates its field. It has sparked an open debate in Spain and led to a liberalization of drug policy in that country. The research is incredibly detailed and the work is designed to be used as the major reference source for scholars and those simply interested in forming opinions on the basis of sound knowledge not propaganda. The "Golden Bough" of Drugs. Impossible to do research in this area without it. Foolish to think oneself well-informed on the subject without it. Nothing like it exists in English.
