in visionary detail while re-imagining the events that happened there. These
writers discuss how and, especially, why they invent—or re-invent—cities, towns, countries, and homes,
and consider the responsibility of fiction to go beyond the merely real. We’ll be guided through these
imaginary lands by New Yorker fiction editor Deborah Treisman.
