Does humor translate? Writers who have managed to get laughs in multiple languages discuss the pros
and cons of divorcing humor from its original context, humor as a rhetorical and literary device, and the
funniest things they’ve ever read. We’ll be guided through the gags by Nona, a kimono-clad, Australian
octogenarian, who occasionally goes by the name Victoria Roberts, cartoonist for The New Yorker.
