In 2001, PEN—in collaboration with the Lincoln Center, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and The New Yorker—sponsored a Twentieth-Century Masters Tribute to James Baldwin, excerpts of which appear in PEN America 2: Home & Away.
