Yan Zhengxue
yan zhengxueDissident writer, painter and member of Independent Chinese PEN Center, arrested October 18, 2006 for his critical writings published online on overseas websites. Yan was sentenced to three years in prison and one year’s deprivation of political rights for “inciting subversion of state power” on April 13 2007. He was released from prison on July 17, 2009, and returned to his home in to his home in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. Yan is suffering from high blood pressure, a brain infarction, and heart disease.
