The late Norman Mailer liked to engage in heavyweight conversation on TV. He found a worthy opponent in Gore Vidal when the pair came to verbal fisticuffs during the incendiary 1971 Dick Cavett Show. Few media moments are as intellectually electrifying as Mailer confronting Vidal about his recently published essay in the New York Review of Books, laced with witty asides by Cavett and New Yorker writer Janet Flanner.
Cavett will provide a live DVD-like, blow-by-blow commentary while the complete show screens and answer audience questions.
