When: Thursday, May 1
Where: McNally Robinson Bookstore: 52 Prince St., NYC
What time: 7 p.m.
As part of its commitment to supporting the work of outstanding small and independent presses, McNally Robinson Bookstore will devote this evening to Pen Press: Plaquettes de Poesía. Pen Press is a New York-based independent small press founded in 1998 with the goal of “promoting contemporary Latin American and Spanish poetry, and poets of other languages in Spanish translation.” On this occasion, its editorial director, Mercedes Roffé, will present the series, and two English-language poets from its translation catalog, Montreal-poet Erín Moure and New York-poet Leonard Schwartz (now visiting from Evergreen State College), who will read from their work.
Poet Marta López-Luaces, who translated for Pen Press the works of both Schwartz and Moure, will read the Spanish versions. Marta López-Luaces's translation of Robert Duncan´s Selected Poems into Spanish will be published by Bartleby Ed. in Madrid in November.
Marcos Wasem, poet and webmaster, will introduce Pen Press’ brand-new site: www.edicionespenpress.com.
Event curated by Javier Molea.
