Michael Krüger on Public Lives/Private Lives
Michael Krüger on Public Lives/Private Lives

Media, the Internet, YouTube: the last step in our narcissistic and political development to expose our private life in public will be the publication of our genetic code. I wonder if we can read in fifty years a book like The History of Public Life in the 21st Century. Private will be public, a perfect mirror. Since we can't stop this—because people like to be exposed in public—writers can describe the change, but will never be able to stop it. The term "private" will be a term we use only in a historical perspective. There are a lot of good reasons to become a pessimist.
