I have no objection to having my published/copyrighted works made available to the public via the Google Print Library Project.

It's all about the "C." It's all about Communication. Writing is done and published to communicate one's ideas to others. Since so many books sell so few copies, their authors' ideas remain unknown or are accessed only by a small readership. Google would provide worldwide opportunities for those books to be read, their ideas promulgated, their authors to become better known. Why not?
