In 2002, PEN—in collaboration with The Academy of American Poets, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, QBR: The Black Book Reivew, and The New York Times—sponsored a Twentieth-Century Masters Tribute to Langston Hughes, excerpts of which appear in PEN America 3: Tribes.
