Alexis Levitin's translations have appeared in well over 200 literary magazines, including Kenyon Review, Partisan Review, American Poetry Review, New England Review, New Letters, Chelsea, and Prairie Schooner. His 22 books of translations include 10 volumes of the work of Portugal's premier poet Eugenio de Andrade. His translations have resulted in numerous awards and fellowships, including two NEA grants, a Witter Byner Poetry Foundation Award, two grants from the Columbia University Translation Center, a Gulbenkian Fellowship, A New York State Council of the Arts Grant, a Fulbright to Portugal, and residencies at the Rockefeller Foundation in Bellagio, the Banff International LiteraryTranslation Centre, and the European Translators Collegium in Germany.
