Le voyage en France
This book, published by Gallimard, won the 2001 Prix Medicis. It's a delightful story about a young American and a young Frenchman who develop strong feelings for each other's culture, but in both cases harbor misconceptions about what it actually means. Each goes to the other's country and becomes involved with a seemingly trendy young woman, only to find that his beliefs about this other culture are somewhat different than he'd always assumed.

Recommended by Tony Outhwaite and Isabel Cuadrado.
