| Moi, l'aigre |
Mohammed Khaïr-Eddine was a superb poet, probably the greatest of his generation in Morocco. The violence of his writing aimed at disemboweling the colonizer's language in order to put it to accurate new uses. Khaïr-Eddine managed to turn French into a truly alive counter-language in many of his books, but most especially in Moi, l'Aigre, where he achieved his aim with a brilliance bordering on genius.
