The Power of the Pen: Does Writing Change Anything?
The Power of the Pen: Does Writing Change Anything?

April 18, 2005 | The Town Hall | New York City

With Margaret Atwood, Nuruddin Farah, Jonathan Franzen, Antonio Muñoz Molina, and Salman Rushdie; introduced by David Remnick.

The 20th century was a long quarrel between those determined that the answer should be yes and others who feared that the writer’s engagement in the world would diminish art without improving politics. The goal of event is not to answer the question but rather to find the words with which we can begin to think it through.
